Nostalgia and our own experiences  are instinctual guidelines for new parents. We each have had a collage of influences and memories growing up and it is rewarding to pass them along. This all came to me last night when my son and I were reading Dr. Seuss’s Fox in Socks. If you haven’t read it in a while, do so, especially if you have children! It’s funny, a phonetic teaser and a great book to share with an early reader. Seussville has been popularized by The TV series and several movies, but the real stars are on the bookcase. Only in the books can you appreciate the absurd and strange charm of Dr Seuss’s characters. Here’s a sample of the reading buddies available in our store and online!

ConneXions Vocational Training Center is a project where young women from the slums receive training and job opportunities. As well as being trained in tailoring and paper crafts, the women are taught English, business skills and values for life.

The women, whilst being paid for their craft work, are increasingly self sufficient. Their self esteem and dignity are built up and they are empowered to begin to improve the quality of their lives.

Tazra and Aliya at Wild Child helped me narrow my choices down. They looked over my wish list and recommended certain brands that they had actually used with their children. When I went into the store,  the products I had chosen were laid out for me to look over. They both wanted to make sure that I was completely happy with every item. I really appreciated their attention to detail. They also suggested items that would appeal to friends and family on a budget.

Registering at Wild Child was an easy process. My wish list was posted online and updated daily. Friends and family outside of Newmarket found it easy and painless to purchase online and over the phone. A few people were interested in buying items that not on the registry and Tazra and Aliya made fantastic suggestions. They even picked out a nursing top for me in the right size!

The day before the shower, Tazra personally delivered all of the gifts. Each item was exquisitely wrapped with a personalized note, and my guests were so happy and pleased to see their presents. I would recommend the Wild Child registry to any new parent. I have experienced registering at other stores, and buying gifts for people off of a registry, but nothing compared to the individual attention I received at Wild Child. Now we feel ready to welcome our baby into the world. We couldn’t be happier!
